It is nearly impossible to talk about the great Stax Records music of the 60s and 70s without mentioning Steve Cropper, the legendary guitarist who was a member of Booker T and the MGs and who wrote for, produced or played with just about everyone else. And what would blue-eyed soul have been without Felix Cavaliere, the voice of the Rascals who fronted such classics as "Groovin'" and "How Can I Be Sure."

So it is truly a momentous occasion when these two all-time greats get together for the first time as they do on their new Stax release, Nudge It Up A Notch. Working with producer Jon Tiven, they've fashioned a great new disc of infectious soulful pop music and funky instrumentals worthy of their legacy.
