Hello Chris! I just wanted
ilfordhammer - July 4th, 2008
Hello Chris! I just wanted to say thanks for your work on this website. I live in the UK and it's hard to find quality soul / r&b over here. The good radio shows are usually either played on unsocial hours or are taken off air after a couple of years.
I look forward to reading about and listening to good soul music.
God bless
Mike a.k.a. Ilfordhammer
Yes, this site is great.
JazzTalks - July 17th, 2008
Yes, this site is great. However in the Uk there are some very good underground stations. Depending on where you live, in London we have west London station Juice 102.5 FM They've had a bit of transmitter problems so they are currently repeating a number of recorded shows, but the schedule is almost back to normal now. I would post the times for the Souls on Juice FM but the schedule is currently unfixed because of transmitter problems a few months ago. I will say that you should look out for Dj's like The Diva Brandy, often on during the day. Her music she plays consists of mainly Neo/Nu Soul, but also slow jams, Spoken word, hip hop & lovers rock. Also look out for Ozzy Dollars 'The Jazz experience' show, it used to be on Sunday from 6pm-9pm.
You should also try Dj Destiny on west/North west station Roots 95.4 FM http://www.ukrootsfm.com/
His shows are on Wednesday 12pm-2pm(Neo soul music)
Thursday 11am-2pm hosted alongside his girlfriend (back in time selection Soul, lover rock I believe also) Friday 12pm-2pm(Neo Soul)
Also try the soul food show(slow jams, Rare Groove, Neo Soul) 8pm-11pm with J nyce on south London station Lightning 90.8 FM http://www.lightningfm.co.uk
Also Dj Dynce on west London station Hot 96 96.3 FM Tuesday 7pm-9pm. http://www.hot96.co.uk/
Aso Sister V on South East London station Galaxy 99.5 FM 8am-10am Saturday www.afiwestation.com/
Also Soul Radio 106.0 FM for all types of Soul music.
There's many other shows and station in London that play neo/Nu soul, Rare Groove, Nu Jazz & Soul etc..
